It’s my pleasure and privilege to introduce this autobiographical interview with Debbie Asplen Ingraham. As a teacher and consultant for Attuned Neurofeedback I regularly invite Debbie to share her story of recovery from early trauma with my neurofeedback classes. Debbie’s willingness to share her personal experience with neurofeedback and Deep Brain Reorienting brings an authentic and insightful voice to our evolving understanding of successful trauma treatment.
With thoughtful facilitation by my colleague Dr Clair Goldberg, Debbie shares in detail her lifelong exploration to resolve early trauma, and how this search ended in finding Sebern Fisher’s approach to neurofeedback for developmental trauma. Through trauma oriented neurofeedback and Deep Brain Reorienting, as developed by Dr Frank Corrigan and Dr Jessica Christie-Sands, Debbie describes for the first time experiencing life in a calm and regulated nervous system.
I know that Debbie shares her story here in the hope it will benefit others. Below you can find biographies for both Debbie Asplen Ingraham and Dr Clair Goldberg.
Sincerely,
Ellen Shaw-Smith, LICSW, BCN.

With over 20 years of clinical experience and ongoing professional training, Dr Goldberg remains committed to the belief that it is never too late for growth and healing. This conviction shapes her therapeutic approach and informs her dedication to helping clients overcome challenges and thrive.
Her understanding of how early life experiences impact neurophysiology has led her to expand her practice, incorporating the advanced brain-based therapies of neurofeedback and Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR). These allow her to incorporate the latest in neuroscience into clinical practice, offering clients innovative methods to overcome suffering and optimize well-being.
Clair has had the privilege of collaborating with leading figures in the field of trauma, including Sebern Fisher MA and Frank Corrigan MD,and is honored to bring their insights and techniques into her work. This includes incorporating different neurofeedback modalities, such as amplitude training, infralow neurofeedback, and in collaboration with Dr Rob Coben, 32 channel QEEG based 4-chanel coherence training. She also provides 32-channel QEEG data collection services to support her colleagues in advancing their own clinical practices. In her quest to make neurofeedback and DBR more available, she has introduced a more accessible remote neurofeedback system into her practice and is a member of the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact (Psypact).
She remains in awe of the profound changes neurofeedback and DBR enable and is actively involved in national and international teaching and mentoring, sharing this transformative knowledge with other professionals.
Clair is happy to share the launch of the first official Attuned Neurofeedback Group practice in New Jersey, USA, in partnership with her colleague, Leanne Hershkowitz, M.A./Ed.S, LPC, BCN. Together, they have established Attuned Neurofeedback and Psychotherapy of NJ (ANPNJ), dedicated to offering neurofeedback and DBR services, alongside educational and mentoring programs to benefit the wider community.
She is excited to be a founding member of the Attuned Neurofeedback International Training Program and welcomes new and seasoned practitioners into this supportive global community.

Debbie Asplen Ingraham has been in and out of trauma therapies since 1967. She is a living history of our evolving understanding of trauma and the development of effective trauma treatments. In the 7th decade of her life she found her way to Sebern Fisher’s attuned approach to neurofeedback for developmental trauma, bringing her lifelong search for successful trauma treatments to an end.
Debbie is a former plaintiff in one of the earliest civil suits lodged against a parent, her father, for child sexual abuse. She is a student of Sebern Fisher and acts as a liaison between the world of clinical neurofeedback and those seeking to find an effective approach to neurofeedback training for themselves or someone they love. She gives first person voice and presence to the hope and possibility found in neurofeedback, integrated with psychotherapy and Deep Brain Reorienting.
In service of this commitment Debbie facilitates a Facebook group and YouTube channel focused on these modalities. You can find links to these resources on the AttunedNeurofeedback.com website Home Page under the Resource Tab. Debbie’s contributions to Attuned Neurofeedback can be found there under the Tab: Debbie Ingraham – Client Resources.
Today Debbie enjoys a stable and flexible nervous system. She is happy to share this autobiographical interview, offering us an in depth look into her unique neurofeedback journey. Her primary message is “Imagine if neurofeedback was the starting place for trauma treatment, rather than the last hope and last resort.”
